Scott Sharp is the IndyCar Series' ironman, making 123 consecutive starts through the 2006 season. But now he's switched teams, going from Fernandez Racing to Rahal Letterman Racing (along with a new sponsorship deal with Patron Tequila), to continue the legacy. He finished 12th in the final standings last year, with two fifth-place finishes Texas and Richmond to his credit.

Scott Sharp (born February 14, 1968 in Norwalk, Connecticut) is an American race car driver in the American Le Mans Series. He is the son of six-time SCCA champion Bob Sharp. Scott Sharp is best known for his years as a competitor in the Indy Racing League.

Scott Sharp, the co-champion of the inaugural IndyCar Series season, had a new home in 2007. The 1996 champion joined Rahal Letterman Racing, driving the No. 8 Patron Tequila Honda Dallara. He scored one pole start, three top fives and 10 top 10s and finished eighth in the championship. For only the third year in his career, Sharp failed to win a race in an IndyCar career that dates back to the inaugural 1996 race at Disney World Speedway in Orlando, Florida.

In moving from the IndyCar Series to the ALMS, Scott Sharp's career has come full circle. Sharp began racing sports cars in the beginning of his professional career, and is returning to the arena once again. Sharp has won nine IndyCar events and has 35 top-five finishes in the Series. He holds the record of 138 consecutive IndyCar starts. In 1996, he was the IndyCar Series co-champion and ... won the 24 Hours of Daytona. He is also a two-time Trans-Am champion, winning 15 races over three seasons.

Scott Sharp joins Rahal Letterman Racing for the 2007 season bringing with a wealth of experience and his championship proven results. The all-time leader in IndyCar Series starts (129), Sharp has started a league record 121 consecutive events dating back to the start of the 1998 season. He will team with second year driver Jeff Simmons to comprise the driving duo for RLR’s 2007 IndyCar Series program.
