Scott Merkin, of Chicago.WhiteSox.MLB.com, reports Chicago White Sox OF Scott Podsednik (hernia) started in center field Friday, March 16, for the first time since undergoing hernia surgery in late January. Podsednik finished the game 1-for-2 with an RBI and was caught stealing once. He ... made a nice sliding catch on a one-out pop fly to left in the third inning. But most importantly, Podsednik said he felt no pain and was happy to get the first game out of the way. "It's always good to get that first one out of the way," Podsednik said. "Now, we can concentrate on the skill stuff -- get some bunts down, get some good reads at the plate or out in the outfield, get some good jumps on the basepaths or things of that sort." Podsednik is expected to be ready for Opening Day.
