Five local Internet users picketed the Church of Scientology of Arizona, in Mesa, earlier this week to protest the international church's efforts to close down their "newsgroup" on the Internet. The Internet, accessed by computer and modem, contains about 6,000 newsgroups on different topics in which people leave messages and information. In spite of the failure, this is the high point so far of an international propaganda campaign by Scientology against the Federal Republic. Scientology has mobilized worldwide for this. Their sympathizers have been steered to Berlin. The sect is using all its power to become acknowledged as a church.

The Church of Spiritual Technology is a non-profit organization that owns the copyrights to Scientology books. The Religious Technology Center (RTC) holds trademarks over the words Dianetics and Scientology.[105] Scientology organizations must license the right to use Scientology and related techniques from this organization. Its stated purpose is to maintain Scientology pure per the writings of L. Ron Hubbard.[106] RTC is headed by David Miscavige a man believed to be the most powerful person in Scientology.[107] The Church of Scientology International is the mother church of Scientology and manages all affiliated Scientology organizations worldwide.[108]
