Musical events in Saxony are of great authenticity, combining art with architecture and landscape in a unique way. Listening to Bach's Christmas Oratorio at the Thomaskirche church in Leipzig, you absorb the music in the place where it was first performed. A Baroque concert in the Dresden Zwinger takes place on the festival ground of the Saxon electors and kings. Listening to a choral concert in a quarry in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, you stand on the material of which the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin was built.

Motor vehicles from Saxony have been providing people with mobility for more than one hundred years now. One of the pioneers of this industry was August Horch, who came to Saxony in 1902 and began building automobiles in Zwickau in 1904. He was the first car manufacturer in Germany to use aluminium casting for engines and gearboxes. He ... used the cardan shaft for power transmission and high-tensile steel for transmission gearwheels.

Saxony carpet solid color styles have a rich appearance that is ideal for traditional or formal rooms. They have more tip definition than other similarly constructed broadloom. Although they require a bit more maintenance, there is no rivaling the elegance brought to any room which is graced by its presence.

The Saxony Landesbank had involved itself in the American mortgage market at the level of at least 65 billion euro through so-called special-purpose entities in Ireland, which had barely 200 million euro of equity at its disposal. As long as the speculative bubble grew ever greater in this market, everything appeared to be going well. But after the so-called subprime mortgage market (with variable interest rates for mortgages for clients with bad credit) began to break down at the end of July, the refinancing of so-called Asset-Backed Commercial Paper ... ran into difficulties.

Saxony is rich in literary and cultural associations. Famous writers, poets, and artists born in Saxony include Novalis, Erich Kästner, Stefan Heym, Karl May, and Georg Baselitz. Johann Sebastian Bach lived in Leipzig between 1723 and 1750, where he was musical director at the Thomasschule. The city of Dresden is famous for its fine examples of architectural style, including the Baroque pavilions of the Zwinger Palace, built between 1709 and 1732, and the Italian Renaissance-inspired Semper Opera House (1878). Two sites in Saxony were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004. In the north-east of the state, straddling the Neisse River and extending across the Polish border into Lubuskie Province is Muskauer Park, a landscaped park designed by Prince Hermann von Puckler-Muskau between 1815 and 1844.
