   Mahayana Buddhism (... called the "Greater Vehicle") proclaims the existence of countless Bosatsu (Bodhisattva) who act as universal saviors for all living beings. To Buddhist followers in Japan, who are mostly of the Mahayana tradition, "compassion" is the defining value of the Bosatsu concept. Throughout the Asian region, the Four Bosatsu of Compassion are among the most widely known Buddhist saviors. This grouping of four should not be confused with another grouping called the Four Great Bodhisattva of Asia.

   STUDER.-Elmer Lee, son of Christian and Emma Studer, died at their home in Roanoke Twp., Ill., July 25th, 1898 at the tender age of 6 months and 28 days. He had been sick only two days with inflammation of the bowels, when the summons came and he passed peacefully away to be with the Savior, who said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me." Funeral was held from the Roanoke M. H., July 27, by John Smith and Andrew Schrock.

The Jesus story was pressed from the same template as other mythical savior-gods who were killed and resurrected, such as Osiris, Dionysus, Mithra, and Attis.
