Sauron: Lord Sauron
built 274 days ago
Sauron, in the world of Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, was a bipedal, flying robot, and the first BioDredd created by Lord Dredd. Sauron was represented by the first computer animation used in a television series, but only in the series itself. His action figure was obviously not an animation, and the videos that came with the toys such as the Interlocker featured him and his clones as traditional cel animations.

Sauron was the greatest enemy of the free peoples of Middle-earth in the Second and Third Ages. He was once a servant of Morgoth, but after Morgoth's defeat, Sauron became a Dark Lord himself and sought to conquer all of Middle-earth. He forged the One Ring to exert his will over others, but in the end it was the instrument of his downfall.

Although the army sent against Minas Tirith was defeated and the Chief Nazgûl destroyed, Sauron still had sufficient armies in Mordor to recover his strength and, over the long term, win the war. Gandalf urged the captains of the West to march on the gates of Mordor to divert the Dark Lord's attention long enough to allow Frodo to complete his mission. Failure on the part of Frodo would return the Ring to Sauron, and he would conquer all Middle-earth, so a "suicide" mission would be justified if Frodo succeeded in the end. The battle was joined and went very poorly for the outnumbered Gondor/Rohan armies.
Toward the end of the Second Age, Ar-Pharazôn, the last and most powerful of the Númenórean kings, came to Middle-earth with massive armies, and Sauron's forces deserted him rather than fight. Realising he could not defeat the Númenóreans with military strength, Sauron allowed himself to be taken as a prisoner to Númenor. Tolkien later wrote (in a letter, #211) that Ar-Pharazôn did not know about the Rings of Power and did not seize the One Ring, which Sauron retained. With its power, Sauron quickly grew from captive to adviser of the king. He established himself as High Priest of Melkor, "Lord of the Dark", and a great temple was built where human sacrifice was carried out. A decade later he convinced Ar-Pharazôn to attack Valinor itself, persuading him that whoever possessed the Undying Lands would live forever.

In 3320 (Second Age) Sauron moved to Mordor. There he accumulated his dark powers again. In 3429 Sauron declared war on Gondor. The Last Alliance of people and elves resisted the Dark Lord. The Army reached Orodruin and there, on its slopes, destroyed the Enemy. Isildur, the eldest son of the King of Gondor, cut Sauron’s finger off together with the Ring of Power.
The animated version of The Mouth of Sauron, as depicted in The Return of the King (1980 film). In the Peter Jackson movie adaptation of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, scenes with the Mouth of Sauron were filmed but cut from the original theatrical release. These scenes were later put back into the film in the extended edition. In the film, the Mouth of Sauron is decapitated by Aragorn. He was played by Bruce Spence. His helmet bears the words “Lammen Gorthaur” (Sindarin for Voice of the Abhorred dead) written in cirth runes. This helmet covers most of his face with only his horribly disfigured and diseased mouth visible.
