Sauron: Black Numenoreans

Sauron nurtured these seeds of dissension and played upon the Numenoreans' fear of death. His form was pleasing and his demeanor was humble and flattering and he became a trusted counsellor of the King. He persuaded Ar-Pharazon to forsake Eru entirely and worship Morgoth instead. The Numenoreans began to perform human sacrifices in hopes of gaining immortality, but they remained mortal.

The Sauron expansion itself comprises cards for Sauron, Nazgul cards, a Black Rider piece for the main board, and several new cards and tokens for the good guys. The new tokens represent resources picked up on the tracks _other_ than the main track, so the old 'sprint on the main track' strategy is now rather less attractive. Sauron gets to play (or draw) cards before the Fellowship player, and this will typically require the hobbit to discard a card, lose a life token, or move along the corruption line. Tough stuff, so those extra resources will be more important.

Isildur recorded that Sauron's hand "was black, and yet burned like fire, and so Gil-galad was destroyed..." Also, Gollum (who is tormented by Sauron in person) told Frodo in The Two Towers that Sauron only had four fingers on one hand- perhaps because of where the Ring was cut from his hand.
