In Saudi Arabia 345 people were trampled to death while attempting to finish the “stoning-of-the-devil” ritual of the Hajj. “This was fate,” said a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, “destined by God.” Officials said that they were working out a plan to allow 500,000 people to stone the devil per hour.

Saudi Arabia is very proud of the fact that it has given hundreds of millions of dollars over the years to Palestinians to build their institutions, infrastructure, put food on their tables, and medicines in their pharmacies. Over fifty percent of the Palestinians today, as a consequence of Israeli occupation and aggression against them, live below the poverty line.
Close observers of Saudi Arabia detect what may be the first faint signs of movement away from tyranny. The Saudis are polarizing, some say, between the supporters of King Abdullah and his enemies, the fundamentalist clerics.
Entertainment in Saudi Arabia is very family-oriented. There are few activities for just couples or singles. Single men are not allowed in family areas. Family beaches are partitioned from the bachelor beaches, for example. Women are generally expected to be accompanied by a male in public.

The two presidents, who were invited to Saudi Arabia by King Abdullah, held talks at the Royal ranch in Janadriyah. King Abdullah congratulated President Al-Bashir and President Deby on the agreement and hosted a luncheon in their honor.
