Satire is a form in art or writing in which people are made to look stupid. Satire is humorous and makes people laugh, but it is not just for making people laugh. Satire makes fun of people’s faults. It shows that they are bad or stupid and makes the reader, viewer or audience laugh at them. Satire can be found in paintings, plays, books, songs, television or movies. Satire often uses irony to make its effect.

Satire site The Enduring Vision, after almost seven years and over 2,000 articles, had pretty much run its course, thought founder Josh Righter. He officially retired the Vision in 2007. Then, something unexpected happened: he ended up taking first place in the 3rd annual HumorFeed awards. Satire is strictly a literary genre, although it is found in the graphic and performing arts as well as the printed word. In satire, human or individual vices, follies, abuses, or shortcomings are held up to censure by means of ridicule, derision, burlesque, irony, or other methods, ideally with an intent to bring about improvement.[1] Although satire is usually meant to be funny, the purpose of satire is not primarily humour in itself so much as an often quite angry attack on something the author strongly disapproves, using the weapon of wit.

In the early stages, The Satire was known as The Blamed Is Dead, and played several Cornerstone Festivals (IL, NC, FL) as well as Freakstock in Boxborg, Germany. Since then they have persevered on as The Satire, and shared the stage with such artists as The Chariot, A Life Once Lost, Spitfire, Fear Before The March Of Flames, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Damiera, Russian Circles, The Handshake Murders, Benea Reach, Scarlet and countless others.
