Satanism was founded approximately 30 seconds after Jesus had his first coniption fit after discovering Joey P. wasn't his father. It was purportedly founded by the Clintonians, but was later claimed by Harry Potter, 666, and some guy. It was evenually proved by the gretest followers, and most evil people on earth, to have been founded by Ann Coulter, widley known as the mother of satan. It was a simple matter for Coulter to seek followers who woke up one day and said "Hey..I'd like to burn for eternity" to accept Satan as a powerful and glorious entity, but unfortunately the lunatics were Christians and already had worshipped a powerful and glorious entity. So Satan took over Christianity like he had done to every other institution in history until it became a tool of control over the worthless mortals.
