Satanism: Modern Satanism
built 188 days ago
Satanism claims to have all the answers for the lost of this world. Satnists do not hesitate to mention how man has skewed God's Word and consequently segmented it into all the various religions. What they DON'T mention... is that there are sects even among Satanists! There are diverse groups of Satanists who ascribe to differing beliefs; notably, Modern Satanists, Traditional Satanists and Spiritual Satanists - each with their own respective beliefs about whether or not Satan is an actual being, or just a "force". They all call Christians "x-tians" and believe that Lucifer (the Archangel who was kicked out of Heaven and became known as Satan) is their creator. They ALL twist Scripture to suit their respective purposes, and they all claim to be non-violent and "normal" - yet NONE of them hesitate to use their various "powers" to hurt people.

Wicca and Satanism are quite distinct. Wiccans worship pre- Christian deities (or a modern-day composite of pre-Christian deities) and do not worship the Christian anti-God. Some Satanists ... worship a pre-Christian deity, but regard the Christian anti-God as a manifestation of their deity, which Wiccans do not. Wicca and Satanism are very different in their aims and tone. Wicca emphasizes harmony and balance, whereas Satanism emphasizes spiritual self-liberation via iconoclasm and catharsis.

The aim of this dissertation is to focus upon some of the ritual magical aspects of modern Satanism without recourse to the sensationalism that is only too evident when Satanism is misunderstood. It is only when one steps aside from one's preconceptions and morality that Satanism can be understood in a clear and balanced light.

Among the Caananites, for example, Satanism expressed itself in such forms as the worship of Moloch, with the included custom of making a human sacrifice of the first-born of each marriage. Notably, that Caananite tradition is featured in the modern Satanists' ritual sexual and homicidal rituals upon infants and children used as human sacrifices.

Today there are several groups in Western nations that do participate in Satanism. The most famous is the Church of Satan, begun in 1966 by Anton LeVey (1930–97) in San Francisco. In his Satanic Bible LeVey contends that the seven deadly sins—lust, greed, gluttony, sloth, anger, envy, and pride—are really the seven virtues that should be celebrated. The basic theology of Satanism is selfish materialism. None of the known Satanist groups participates in murder or other illegal acts. However, a modern myth of an underground Satanic group that murders children, rapes young girls, and injures other people continues to exist.
