Saruman: White Hand
built 276 days ago
C1G39918 Saruman was the wizard in charge of Isengard, but he was lured into the bidding of the evil lord Sauron. This detailed sculpt shows Saruman using the Palantir to communicate with Sauron. The Saruman mini bust has a light-up feature, stands 7.25 inches tall and is made of poly-resin. Comes with a hand-numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Take the ivory robes Saruman wears—each and every fold is beautifully carved as if from bolts of real cloth, not clay cast into polystone. The many folds of the abundant sleeves bend and fold onto one another quite realistically. One hand half-hides up a protruding sleeve, while the other shows not only the outer robe but the sleeve of his inner garment, covering the back of his extended hand, showing the underdetail of a curved cuff. Painted in fine delicate scrollwork is a pattern that runs down the length of the front collar edges of the outer robe.

After the last meeting of the White Council, Saruman isolated himself in Isengard. He had originally been entrusted with Isengard as a lieutenant of the Steward and a warden of the tower, but now he claimed the stronghold for himself and began to increase its fortifications. He destroyed Isengard's beautiful gardens and dug pits which he filled with forges and machinery. To fuel the fires, Saruman had trees cut down in Fangorn Forest.

This polystone bust of Saruman is a gorgeous work. While the overall look of the menacing figure, hand poised over the Palantir, reading signs from the distant land of evil, is awe-inspiring, the true charm is in the details.

Confined to the Orthanc and with his servants scattered or killed, Saruman made one final unsuccessful attempt to turn Théoden and Gandalf. The latter then offered Saruman a chance for redemption, which involved surrendering his staff and the keys to the Orthanc as a pledge. Saruman refused out of pride and fear. Gandalf, who had returned from death to supplant Saruman as the White and the head of the Istari, expelled Saruman from the order and broke his staff. Saruman ... lost the palantír of Orthanc when Gríma Wormtongue threw it off a balcony of Orthanc, undecided about which he hated more, Saruman or Gandalf, and hitting neither.

At any rate, Christopher Lee is the perfect choice for Saruman - tall, dark-eyed, venerable, and with the ability to be truly nasty. Lee's got those amazing hands, which fit Saruman's cleverness in devising machinery of his own.
