The granulomas or clumps of cells that characterize sarcoidosis may occasionally lead to high levels of calcium in the blood and urine. Too much calcium in the urine may lead to kidney stones.

There’s no need to restrict your activities simply because you have sarcoidosis. If you become out of breath, stop and rest, but there is no reason to stop participation in athletic activities.

It is important to have an annual eye check-up by an Eye Specialist, as sarcoidosis can involve any part of the eye, as well as reduce the production of tears. It can ... involve the central and peripheral nervous system. Some patients may need a neurological examination by a specialist (a Neurologist).

The abnormal trabecular pattern of destruction at the hands is fairly characteristic of sarcoidosis. If osseous destruction is present at the distal phalanges, the appearance may be similar to findings associated with scleroderma. However, scleroderma has fairly characteristic associated soft tissue findings which distinguish it from sarcoidosis.
