Back in March, a very pregnant Sarah McLachlan was spotted on a Hawaiian beach while vacationing with her husband/drummer Ashwin Sood. Four months later, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter showed up at the Holt Renfrew launch party in Vancouver still, well, very pregnant. now.

Sarah McLachlan's music is something to sink into, like a featherbed after a good cry. She is touring again for the first time since 1999, having taken time off to have a daughter -- her husband, Ashwin Sood, is her band's drummer -- and to struggle over completing her most recent album, ''Afterglow.''
