Sara Evans moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1991 to become a country artist. That year she met Craig Schelske there and a year later moved to Oregon. They were involved both professionally and personally. Schelske and Evans were married in 1993 and returned to Nashville in 1995, where she began recording demos. Songwriter Harlan Howard heard Evans' demo of one of his songs, "Tiger By the Tail," at County Q Studios** and decided she should be the one to sing his music. She went under contract with RCA.

Country music singer and Dancing with the Stars contestant Sara Evans filed for divorce from her husband Craig Schelske on Thursday. Evans, 35, filed the papers in state court in Franklin, a Nashville suburb where the couple live with their three children, Avery, 7, Olivia, 3, and Audrey, 2. They have been married since 1993. Schelske, 43, ran for Congress as a Republican from Oregon's 5th District in 2002.

Country star Sara Evans has decided to pull out of the Dancing with the Stars competition due to personal reasons, an ABC spokesperson confirms to PEOPLE. In a statement released by her personal rep, it was revealed that Evans had filed for divorce from husband Craig Schelske on Thursday.

Country star SARA EVANS and her attorneys have been named in a defamation suit filed by her former nanny, ALISON CLINTON. Clinton claims she was slandered and libelled in court documents that Evans and her legal team filed in October 2006 in connection with the singer's divorce from husband CRAIG SCHELSKE. In her divorce suit, Evans claimed her former nanny had an affair with Schelske. Clinton and Schelske have always maintained the allegations are false. Clinton is seeking $3 million (GBP1.5 million) in punitive and compensatory damages.
