Sandra Bullock (born July 26, 1964) is an American actress. Born as Sandra Annette Bullock in Arlington, Virginia, she started singing as a child. Her mother was the late German-born opera singer Helga Meyer, and her father is American voice teacher John Bullock. She studied acting at East Carolina University [1] in Greenville, North Carolina, but dropped out with her parents' blessing and moved to New York, where she acted in TV programs and later feature films. Her breakthrough film was Speed (1994). She currently lives in Austin, Texas.

Upcoming movies for Sandra Bullock include "Infamous," a new movie about Truman Capote. Sandra stars as writer and close friend of Capote, Harper Lee. This film has completed production and is currently scheduled for release October 13, 2006. In 2007 Sandra will appear as Linda in the movie "Premonition" about a housewife whose husband dies in a car crash but then reappears the next day. She tries to avoid the tragedy based on the premonition.

Born in a Virginia suburb of Washington, DC, to a German opera singer and a voice teacher, Sandra Bullock grew up on the road with her parents and younger sister. She often performed in the children's chorus of whatever production her mother was in. That singing talent later came in handy for her role as an aspiring country singer in The Thing Called Love (1993). Her family moved back to the Washington area when she was a teenager. She later enrolled in E. Carolina University in North Carolina, where she studied acting. Shortly afterward she moved to New York to pursue a career on the stage. This led to acting in television programs and then feature films.
