Sam Kinison -- Leader of the Banned Sam Kinison's third album, 1990's Leader of the Banned, was the comedian's last before dying two years later in a car crash. Unfortunately, it is a huge disappointment. Actually, Leader of the Banned is on the verge of embarrassing considering Kinison's obvious talent. The first half features a half hour of standup comedy recorded at Bally's in Las Vegas, NV, and very few moments work. "Jerry's Bastard Kid" offers a few chuckles when Kinison brings out Doug Bady, a member of his "Outlaws of Comedy" entourage, to criticize Jerry Lewis' annual MDA telethons for their lack of results. "Casual Users of Terrorism" offers a few tantalizing political remarks but never fully takes off.

The Loss of Sam Kinison is a horrible loss for the world, he crosses the line of acceptablility in his humor, NOT for the PC crowd. Despite his raunchy humor, he was a preacher (seriously!) and keeps his belief strong, although veiled, and never force fed, like his humor! Get up! Rethink! And yell back! That's what it is all about about!

Sam Kinison has the easiest job in show business. All he has to do is be fat and scream a lot, and he has thousands of guys squealing as if he were actually funny. As this mostly live home video proves again, Kinison's act features few jokes, fewer insights, and not a single fully formed thought. It's just a lazy vent for rage a cheap stab at catharsis for hatemongers everywhere.

For fans of comedy, Sam Kinison needs no introduction. His scathing comedy tackled tough topics no other comedian dared to touch. Fed up and disenfranchised with his career as a Pentacostal preacher, Sam left the ministry to try his hand at comedy. Almost immediately, and thanks in part to the foresight of Rodney Dangerfield who showcased Sam on an HBO special, his piercing scream, extreme humor and irreverent take on life attracted attention. Containing rare, early footage of Sam preaching and performing stand up at the world famous Comedy Store, the Award Winning "Why Did We Laugh?" tells the story of a comedic genius who touched a deeper chord in people than most entertainers.
This 1991 Sam Kinison concert was taped live less than a year before Kinison died in a car accident. Here Kinison plays guitar with his backup band (led by guitarist Randy Hansen) and delivers his patented diatribes. In keeping with his celebration of sex, drugs, and rock & roll, Kinison's show includes a parade of leather-clad beauties, including his wife, Malika Souiri. This video is sold with two different sleeves: one with a simple picture of Kinison, and the other, known as the "Mature" sleeve, features Kinison as the central figure in a "Last Supper" scene, flanked by beautiful scantily clad women. ~ Steve Blackburn, All Movie Guide
Born on December 8th, 1953 in Yakima, Washington, Sam Kinison's beginnings were fairly innocent. His father was a Pentacostal preacher, and the family lived in a church in Peoria, Illinois. Sam and his brothers followed in their father's footsteps by touring churches across the Bible Belt and earning a decent living. But that wasn't enough for Sam. As his preachings became increasingly too much for the average churchgoer, he took his thoughts and ideas to comedy clubs.
