Universidade Católica do Salvador (UCSal), established in 1961, is the highest-ranking private university in northeast Brazil. The University offers courses in communications, history, geography, biology, mathematics, education, music, law, civil engineering, social service, nursing, and theology. The UCSal campus is housed in renovated monasteries and some modern day buildings that include libraries, computer rooms, research centers, a bookstore, and cafeterias. During the semester, students enroll in UCSal courses alongside Brazilian students.

In the evening, Salvador's cool winds and outdoor cafes become most inviting. The Pelourinho, in particular has tremendous variety of night time activity....The folkloric shows here are more authentic with very talented musicians and dancers....It is easy to bar hop in the Barra and some of the most happening spots will be on Avenida Setembro de 7.
