Salvador Salvador's long-distance bus station is in the middle of the new city, 14km from downtown. Salvador receive scheduled buses from all the country and from Paraguay. Inside the bus stations there are taxis (local taxis and executive taxis) and a urban bus stations with local buses to many places in Salvador and Metropolitan Area. Executive buses in the Iguatemi Station and in the entrance of Iguatemi Mall linked to the bus station by a busy walkbridge.

Salvador has been the birthplace of many noted Brazilians, including musicians such as song-writer Dorival Caymmy, MPB star Gal Costa, and Grammy-winner Gilberto Gil. Gil later went on to be a city council member (vereador) and is currently the Brazilian Minister of Culture. Notable writers associated with the city include Jorge Amado, considered one of Brazil's greatest authors and fabulists and João Ulbaldo Ribeiro. The famous Brazilian visual artist Carybé is based in Salvador as well.
Historic Centre in the afternoon. After the independence of Brazil (1822), Salvador continued to play an important role in Brazilian literature. Important 19th century writers associated with the city include Romantic poet Castro Alves (1847-1871) and diplomat Ruy Barbosa (1849-1923). In the 20th century, Bahia-born Jorge Amado (1912-2001), although not born in Salvador, helped popularize the culture of the city around the world in novels like Jubiabá, Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos and Tenda dos Milagres, which are plotted in Salvador.
Studying near a bamboo grove Salvador da Bahia, located on the Atlantic coast in northeastern Brazil, is a historic city of 2.1 million. During the colonial period, Salvador was the capital of Brazil and the center of the sugar industry. Due to the strong slave presence during this period, Salvador and the northeast region of Brazil has a strong African influence which is notable in many ways, including religious and spiritual practices, artistic manifestations, cuisine, and ethnic dynamics.
