Sade: De Sade
built 817 days ago
Although one misses the catchy tunes of former releases on Sade's new album, Lovers Rock (Sony, November 2000), her femininity and sensuality still set her apart in a music scene which almost completely lacks these qualities. Lovers Rock may not be sensational, but it is still an enrichment. The newly released and remastered Best of CD by Sade is a must for fans and all the people who are not familiar with her former albums and hits. Only here, her singing deploys all its magic. It is not without reason that a lot of people used to make love and conceive children while listening to her dreamy, soulful melodies.

Sade was born on June 2, 1740, in Paris, pursuing a military career as a youth during the Seven Years' War (1756-63). He then married, but at the same time he began living the scandal-ridden life of a libertine. He was soon convicted of acts of violence and debauchery and sent to prison. He was sentenced to death in 1772 but was given a reprieve. He fled briefly to Italy. No sooner was he back in Paris in 1777 than he was again arrested.

Sade was born in Ibadan, Ọyọ State, Nigeria. Her parents, Bisi Adu, a Nigerian lecturer in economics of Yoruba background, and Anne Hayes, an English nurse, met in London and moved to west Africa. Later, when the marriage ran into difficulties, Anne returned to Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England, taking four-year-old Sade and her older brother Banji to live with her parents. Living in Colchester, Essex, Sade read a good deal, developed an interest in fashion, acquired a taste for dancing and with pleasure listened to soul artists like Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye.
The Marquis de Sade, born into the courtly circle of King Louis XV, was an aristorcrat and author who refuted Roman Catholic authority and all other religious tenets. Sigmund Freud's theory concluded normal sexual development to be of the Oedipal complex. However instead of being attracted to his mother, the Marquis De Sade grew to hate his mother. His life's mission became a journey to physically and mentally torture women.

Sade made a great contribution to development of modern popular music. Sade were innovative in that they combined an old school approach to their song creation that has its roots in black American music genres such as jazz, blues and soul. It was this definition in 1984 and the general look and style of the band that created a sound that is still popular today. The original style and convention remains true today and the original sound featured on the Diamond Life album remains constant today as a testament to the first album.
