Ryan Sheckler: Xg Street
built 209 days ago
Ryan Sheckler is one of the top up-and-comers in skateboarding today. His skating is strong and consistent, as he fearlessly launches his small frame onto the biggest spots around. Street, tranny, skateparks, contests, videos--at such a young age, Ryan is already the master of it all.

At XG 2003, Ryan Sheckler (13 at the time) became the youngest athlete ever to win XG gold, which he did in SKB Park. While Ryan struggled at XG 2004 with the new street format, he still rules at park contests, and won the first Dew Action Sports Tour stop (Louisville, June 2005) which was a similar format to XG 2004. For 15-year old Sheckler... it's the change in sponsorship from World Industries to the core company Almost that is transitioning him into a core media skater. His first major video part came out in fall 2004 in the Almost Round 3 video.

Since earning his first XG Street medal (silver, 2006), high school senior Sheckler gained a man-sized body, adding 25 lbs of muscle by working out with his dad. At 17, Ryan is the hot skater at contests and has girls throwing themselves at him. Started skating at XG at just 13, when he became the youngest athlete to win gold (Park, 2003) in XG history. Has become one of the core street skaters in the country. His small size held him back in the past, but now with sick skills on all terrain and at 150 lbs, he is becoming one of the few who can win any contest.

In 2004, Sheckler took home the title of National Street Champion for World Cup Skateboarding. In 2005, he successfully defended the title as National Street Champion and added World Street Champion to his long list of accomplishments. That same year, he won two of the five events on the Dew Tour. Having accumulated the most points out of anyone in any discipline on the tour he went on to secure the title of “Athlete of the Year”. In 2006, he won three of the five stops on the Dew Tour, and claimed the overall title for the second consecutive year. To this day, Sheckler takes his board with him wherever he goes.

From that year forth, it was officially on. In 2005, Sheckler was named the Action Sports Tour’s Athlete of the Year and World Cup Of Skateboarding’s overall Street Champion. The year after, he was named both the Skateboarder and Athlete of the Year at the Arby’s Action Sports Awards as well as being crowned the 2006 Action Sports Tour overall Park Champion. And in 2007, Sheckler made history by becoming the first skateboarder every to win an AST Championship three years in a row.
