[F]ar, though, the aspect of the film that has attracted the most attention is the rumor that Phillippe and his costar Abbie Cornish became romantically involved on set and are currently dating. The film was shot in the summer and fall of 2006, just as Phillippe’s marriage was falling apart. After the film wrapped, he says, the two did not see each other for months and only at the end of last year began to spend time together again. But, he insists, they are not a couple.

RED-carpet strategies are being devised for "Stop-Loss," the war drama being released March 28 starring Ryan Phillippe and Aussie beauty Abbie Cornish. Rumors of romance between the co-stars swirled in the fall of 2006, when Phillippe split from Oscar-winning sweetheart Reese Witherspoon. Cornish was blamed for coming between the golden couple, who have two children together. Phillippe and Cornish hid from the press at the time of the high-profile Hollywood breakup, with Cornish skipping some red carpet interviews for her 2006 release, "Candy." Now, according to an insider, "Stop-Loss" distributor Paramount is hatching plans so promotional appearances focus on the movie — not on Phillippe's cheating or Cornish's home-wrecking. "Ryan and Abbie are definitely together," a source said, "but they don't want to have a big show walking down the carpet together." A different LA source claims neither star cares about the promotional strategy. Reps for Phillippe, Cornish and Paramount could not be reached.

If you remember accurately… Abbie was the rumored mistress that tore Reese and Ryan apart. He and Abbie had several romantic interludes while filming “Stop Loss” together. They were reportedly spotted making out in a sushi restaurant by several witnesses. After some photographic evidence surfaced of the affair, Reese reportedly confronted Ryan who then admitted to the extramarital activities ... causing the divorce.

A source said that Phillippe, 33, and Cornish, 25, have a "ton of chemistry" and seem to get along great. Said the source, "Abbie is a free spirit. She indulges a side of Ryan that he’s kept under wraps for years." Witherspoon has moved on as well and is reportedly seeing actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The two have been seeing each other off-and-on again for the past few months and lately have been spending more and more time with one another.
