Ryan Cabrera (born July 18, 1982 in Dallas, Texas) is an American musician who released his first album, Take It All Away, on August 17, 2004; it debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 album chart. Cabrera had become known earlier in the year for his uptempo pop-rock single "On the Way Down", which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number seven on the Billboard Top 40 Tracks, and for his relationship with the singer Ashlee Simpson; he appeared in several episodes of the first season of Simpson's reality show, The Ashlee Simpson Show, and Simpson appeared in Cabrera's music video for "On the Way Down". Simpson's first single, "Pieces of Me", was written about Cabrera and their relationship. The two were reported to have broken up in August 2004 because of their busy schedules, but their relationship continued, and the two were still seen together and their relationship ... featured in season two of The Ashlee Simpson Show. They did a series of high school concerts together in October 2004, which was seen on the show. In February 2005, there were reports that they had broken up. Cabrera has toured with Ashlee's sister Jessica Simpson, and his manager is their father Joe Simpson.

Ryan Cabrera is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Texas that find his fame while playing with a local Dallas band named Rubix’s Groove. His hobby of playing the guitar dates back to his high school days when he was inspired by The Dave Matthews Band. He and his band played all over Dallas and they were met with some fair success opening for such bands like Cheap Trick and Third Eye Blind. But it wasn’t until his brother gave him a birthday present of some studio time that Ryan’s solo career took off. He recorded one song and the studio liked his sound so much that they offered to record an entire album for free. His debut album, Elm St., performed so well in the local Dallas market that he landed a contract with Atlantic Records and the ear of co-producer Johnny Rzeznick of the Goo Goo Dolls.

Once Ryan Cabrera felt he was ready for the next step in his career, he hooked up with Joe Simpson, father of Jessica and Ashlee, as his manager. He set out on a national tour with singer Howie Day. With a major label recording contract from Atlantic Records, Ryan Cabrera headed into the studio with the Goo Goo Dolls' Johnny Rzeznik as producer. Gaining songwriting assistance from Rzeznik and former Robbie Williams collaborator Guy Chambers among others, he released his first major label album, Take It All Away, in August, 2004.
