Ryan Briscoe: Team
built 605 days ago
Ryan Briscoe slammed hard into the concrete wall in turn two at the Milwaukee Mile this morning and the team has elected to withdraw him from the remainder of the weekend. Cleared to drive by Dr. Geoff Billows, IRL medical official, the team has instead elected to rest Briscoe with him returning to the track next week.

During the winter, he tested with fellow Australian and Champ Car owner Kevin Kalkhoven's PKV Racing team. Briscoe ... tested for the Mi Jack Conquest team. Briscoe competed in the 2006 24 Hours of Daytona with 2005 Champions Wayne Taylor, Max Angelelli and Emmanuel Collard, but the team withdrew due to accident damage before Briscoe's turn to drive.
The Penske team stretched its final fuel load while Briscoe took the lead with 40 minutes to go when McNish pitted his diesel-powered Audi R10 TDI for a final splash. The Aussie drove the final 75 minutes on a single set of tires and tank of fuel. The sister Porsche RS Spyder LMP2 of Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas won overall at Long Beach and Houston.
In 2006, Briscoe started rebuilding his reputation by driving a variety of cars. He raced sports cars, Champ Cars, Australian V8 (touring) Supercars. He ran a few IRL races and finished third at Watkins Glen for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, a small team that doesn't usually run up front.

"When we saw that the 76 had the penalty, obviously it was a very helpful thing for us as a team," said Briscoe. "But we had to keep racing as though nothing had happened, because it was still very early in the race."
