Ryan Briscoe: Helio Castroneves

Leading up to the decision, Briscoe had one final hurdle to clear -- a test on the notorious Milwaukee Mile. "I don't think he has ever been to Milwaukee without crashing, so we took him there for a test," Cindric said. "Ryan (Briscoe) did well at Milwaukee and he turned lap times comparable to those of Helio (Castroneves)."

Yes, Penske’s troops were probably just helping the Briscoe crew assemble all their parts and pieces, but do you really believe that that was all they were doing? Do you really believe Briscoe won’t have excellent equipment and as good of a chassis setup as cars bearing No. 3 (Castroneves) and No. 6 (Hornish)? Especially when you remember that Briscoe drives for Penske’s ALMS program?

"I've gotten to know Helio pretty good this year, and he's a great guy," Briscoe said. "I've got to say at Indy this year, I never asked a whole lot from him, but he was always helping out, seeing how it was going with setup and how I was feeling in the car, trying to help out as much as possible. He was really great to work with all month long.
