In the race on May 28, 2007, he completed all 166 laps before the race was called due to a driving rain. Briscoe finished 5th amongst the 33 participants earning him $302,305 and 30 driver's points.

Briscoe was actually quite fast during his testing and Friday duties in '04, Toyota just had it in their head that Trulli and Half Schumacher were going to become their saviors. Even Mike Gascyone was convinced that his designs were world beaters and it was only the drivers he had had in the past (Panis, Da Matta), that prevented his cars from seeing their full potentional. How did that work out for him and Toyota?

The billionaire businessman’s hectic schedule over the weekend ... included dropping into oversee his NASCAR team at Daytona on Saturday night, and then back up to Watkins Glen on Sunday to call the shots for his Indy drivers.

Before the race there had been much talk amongst the top drivers about different tyre strategies with Piquet opting to start the race on worn tyres and Briscoe on a new set. Piquet... made a poor start and Briscoe was unable to capitalise on the advantages of fresh rubber in the early stages.
