Warrick's name popped up in television infotainment shows and supermarket racks in 2002 in connection with the highly publicized courtship and marriage of Liza Minnelli and David Gest. Gest had long been spreading the rumor that he and the 38-years-older Warrick were romantically involved. Confronted by a reporter to confirm or deny this, Warrick predicted that Minnelli would be disappointed on her honeymoon. Minnelli and Gest escalated the tabloid war by scolding Warrick for her insinuation about Gest's sexuality. Eventually, while not recanting her statement, Warrick apologized nonetheless.

Warrick received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the role. She made her final appearance less than two weeks ago to commemorate the show's 35th anniversary.

After introducing herself to small-screen audiences with four years on ATWT, Warrick took the role of the mother in the 1961 FATHER OF THE BRIDE television series. Following its brief run, she revisited the format of serialized drama with primetime's PEYTON PLACE, on which she portrayed Hannah Cord until 1967.
