Rusty Wallace: Rusty Wallace Racing
built 657 days ago
Rusty Wallace knew what he wanted to do when he grew up. Watching his father Russ win Midwest stock car races, the St. Louis youngster saw his future with a helmet and driving suit. From his initial race in 1973 at Lakehill Speedway near St. Louis, Wallace has shown the ultimate determination and drive to excel from a short track upstart to a NASCAR Winston Cup superstar.

Rusty Wallace Rusty Wallace retired from full-time racing in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series during the 2005 Ford 400 race held at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He may still make occasional appearances but even still, his retirement does not mean he is done with stock car racing. Rusty is part owner of the Penske Racing South team along with Roger Penske, and they have two cars in the Nextel Cup series driven Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman. Rusty ... owns RWI Racing which fields Jamie McMurray's #64 Dodge Charger in the NASCAR Busch Series.
Correction: 04 Champion Kurt Busch to Penske, to replace Wallace: Reigning Nextel Cup champion Kurt Busch has signed with Penske Racing South to replace retiring driver Rusty Wallace in its No. 2 Dodges, ThatsRacin.com has learned. On Tuesday, Roush Racing confirmed Busch, 27, has already signed with another team for the 2007 season and has asked to be released from his 2006 obligations. "Due to sponsor and team considerations no decision on that request will be made for an indefinite period," the statement said. "Roush Racing will have no further comment at this time." Sources confirmed Busch's 2007 deal is with Penske Racing South and could make him one of the highest-paid drivers in the sport, if not the highest. What Penske would do should Busch not get out of his 2006 deal isn't clear, although asking Wallace to remain another season does not appear to be an option, sources said. (Star Telegram)

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (April 5, 2005) – Miller Lite Dodge driver Rusty Wallace took exception to a major newspaper reporter’s line of questioning after qualifying third at Bristol last Friday. The subject wasn’t last weekend’s Food City 500, but rather Wallace’s quest to remain in the top 10 in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings and be a participant in this year’s “Chase For The Championship.”
Wallace At his first NASCAR race at the Atlanta 500, Rusty Wallace came in second place and from that point on he had a place in NASCAR history. In 1984 he was named NASCAR Rookie of the Year and his first win came on April 6, 1986 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
