- Monasticism -- Holy Rule
Monasticism is the quest for union with God, through prayer, penance and separation from the world, pursued by men sharing a communal life in religious or contemplative seclusion. They seem to grow holy together, drawing upon one another's virtues to combat their own weaknesses. - Gollum -- Ruling Ring
In Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Gollum is a CGI character voiced by actor Andy Serkis, who ... provided the voices of some of the Nazgûl and orcs. Barely glimpsed in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), he becomes a central character in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). The CGI character was built around Serkis' facial features, voice and acting choices. Possibly, Andy Serkis based his voice on the character Gurgi's voice from the Disney movie, The Black Cauldron - Ja Rule -- Miscellaneous
In the September 2007 issue of Complex magazine, Ja Rule expressed that homosexuals are to be blamed for the problems and destruction in the United States, and was disgusted at MTV's promotion of LGBT television shows. He ... spoke out about how hip hop is being blamed for more issues than homosexuality, and perpetuated the belief that gays are evil and corrupting music and television. - Kashmir -- Indian Rule
From the 9th to the 12th century, the region of Jammu and Kashmir was a center of Hindu culture. It was brought under Muslim rule in the 14th century and remained so until the Sikhs of Punjab and then the ruling prince of Jammu, Raja Gulab Singh, assumed control in the 19th century. - Ten Commandments -- Rulings
The Ten Commandments (1956) was Cecil B. De Mille's most spectacular epic and last film. It was the highest-earning live-action film of the 1950s. Although a blockbuster, the film reverts to melodramatic style, with great actors adopting static attitudes, postures and gestures. - Cellular Automaton -- Rules
In the 1970s a two-state, two-dimensional cellular automaton named Game of Life became very widely known, particularly among the early computing community. Invented by John Conway, and popularized by Martin Gardner in a Scientific American article, its rules are as follows: If a black cell has 2 or 3 black neighbors, it stays black. If a white cell has 3 black neighbors, it becomes black. In all other cases, the cell stays or becomes white. Despite its simplicity, the system achieves an impressive diversity of behavior, fluctuating between apparent randomness and order. One of the most apparent features of the Game of Life is the frequent occurrence of gliders, arrangements of cells that essentially move themselves across the grid. - The Cider House Rules
The Cider House Rules is a lovely film in many respects. The performances range from very good (Maguire, Rudd, Jane Alexander, and newcomer Erykah Badu as the daughter of Mr. Rose) to excellent (Caine, Lindo, Kathy Baker, Charlize Theron). Its drama is uniformly understated, eliminating the histrionics one might expect from these events and this subject matter. The children are adorably soulful, evoking just the right level of heartwrenching empathy. The cinematography is beautiful, giving this universe a vibrant glow, even in scenes meant to play as harsh or sad. Rachel Portman's score is gooey and insistent, but not offensively so. It complements Hallstrom's tone with absolute precision, which means that it will be embraced or rejected along with the film itself by each individual viewer. - Lenny Kravitz -- Love Rule
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Globally recognized and acclaimed rock musician Lenny Kravitz is set to hit the road today on his exclusive "Get on the Bus with the Love Revolution" club tour. Featuring only 9 select markets, the outing will kick off this evening at Santa Monica, California's Civic Center. The tour will culminate at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom and be followed the following week by a slew of high profile television performances and interviews on Good Morning America, The Late Show With David Letterman, Live With Regis and Kelly, MTV's TRL and BET's 106th & Park to kick off the release of his 8th studio album It Is Time For A Love Revolution. - World Trade Organization -- Rules
A free trade dispute which concentrated on prohibition of online gambling by the US had an encouraging finish , since The World Trade Organization (WTO) has ruled in favor of Antigua and Barbuda. As indicated by Sir Ronald Sanders, Antigua’s ambassador to the WTO: “This is justice done and a victory for the WTO dispute system…the U.S. is under an obligation to repeal their laws”. - The Cider House Rules -- Homer Wells
T[H]e Cider House Rules is the story of Homer, an orphan who grows up under the guidance of an altruistic gynecologist who directs an orphanage. His altruism extends towards pregnant young women (usually out of wedlock) who seek him out to either help in the birthing process or to receive an abortion at the orphanage. While the acting is excellent and the scenery beautiful, verity is missing.
