Ruger is a dominant player in the .22 rimfire rifle market in the U.S. with its Ruger 10/22. The 10/22 is popular due to being relatively inexpensive and of good quality as well as the wealth of aftermarket accessories and parts available for it. In fact, it's possible to build a 10/22 using only aftermarket parts and perhaps a few small parts (springs/pins/screws/etc.) from Ruger.

By the way, Mike, Ruger was the vendor of the Palma rifles used in the last Palma match held here in the states. Guess those guys don't know what they are doing; no one told them their rifles were not competitive or suitable for target shooting at 800, 900, and 1000 yards.

A Canadian college student used a Ruger semi-automatic rifle legally purchased in Canada to kill 14 and wound another 14 in Montreal. In Dawson, another Canadian used a semi-auto carbine, a handgun and a shotgun to shoot 20 people, killing one.
