Rudra: Music
built 283 days ago
Ralph “Rudra” Beauvert is a key member of the magnificent Shiva’s Quintessence, the group he formed with Phil “Shiva” Jones, to carry on the spirit of Quintessence music. Rudra’s sure musicianship and mastery of keyboards underpins the entire enterprise, helping Shiva’s extraordinary voice soar to new heights.

The music of Rudra definitely holds some elements that are appealing and very original. There is ... some loss when everything is mixed together into a single song, or album. Many good ideas here, but their execution just not good enough to be truly appealing. Nonetheless, Rudra holds promise as a band, and maybe with a different producer the sound would be a little more unified.

The genre has been pioneered by Singaporean band Rudra in the late 1990s. Since then, it has grown in popularity. Bands like Aryadeva (band) (Ukraine), Symmetry (Indonesia), Warriors Of Peace (India), Asura (India), Advaita (New Zealand), The Aryan March (India), Narasimha (Singapore), Kaliyuga (Malaysia), and Azrael (Australia) have done pioneering work in the genre. Often, along with the Vedic lyrics, the music has shades of Indian Classical music. The definitive album of this genre is the Rudra album The Aryan Crusade released in 2001.
