LYCOS RETRIEVER
Ruby

A far cry from City Saloon, the Wild West sports bar it replaced, Ruby is a hybrid mix of pumping River North club and dirty, shady basement hang. Unsurprisingly, red rules at this subterranean spot. The first things that grab the attention are the huge, stenciled red flowers on the large tan wall that separates the room into two areas (the floors, booths, walls and most of the club's accoutrements are ... red). Meanwhile, the naked lady oil paintings that hang above the seating areas and the damask print wallpaper give the club a brothel feel.

In Ruby, everything is an object. Every bit of information and code can be given their own properties and actions. Object-oriented programming calls properties by the name instance variables and actions are known as methods. Ruby’s pure object-oriented approach is most commonly demonstrated by a bit of code which applies an action to a number.

The Ruby Pipeline will have an initial capacity of 1.2 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) and is expandable to 2 Bcf/d. It will connect Rocky Mountain natural gas producers with one of the most attractive natural gas demand regions in the country and provide natural gas users in northern California, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest with competitively priced natural gas from the nation's most important supply growth region. Subject to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other regulatory approvals, approvals of respective companies' boards of directors, and after obtaining necessary customer commitments, the Ruby Pipeline is anticipated to be in service in the first quarter of 2011.

At it's peak Ruby had a population close to 3,000 with as many as 5000 people in the area. Ruby had electric lights, telephone, stores, outfitters, two newspapers, a post office, two lumber mills, hotels, bowling alley, movie house and a show hall. There was scheduled barge and riverboat service. For a few years Ruby rivaled Fairbanks as the center of civilization in Alaska.
