The game making world was moved when a certain Don Miguel translated ASCII’s RPG Maker 2000, and distributed it over the internet. Rm2k is now one of the most well known game makers with a huge community of people creating interesting and fun games for each other to play. Since then, other RPG makers have been released, but none match the power and ease of use that Rm2k has.

It seems like RPG Maker will be easier this time around. But if your not the waiting type then you can fail like anyother RPG Maker. Also if you think playing a other RPG is easier then your right. But ppl who want to make RPGs will see it differently then ppl who don't wanna make RPGs.

Originally, marketed versions of RPG Tsukūru 2000 featured seven "sample games" as the examples for game making. They were not appended to the English translation of Don Miguel, while Don Miguel incorporated his original sample game instead. Materials included in those games are free to use, and often utilized for actual RPG making, for instance, Lysander86's A Blurred Line heavily relying on materials from Abyss-Diver #0.

The one idea that potential RPG creators should make sure to not have before booting up RPG Maker is that they will be able to create something that rivals, say, Final Fantasy IX. Sure, it is possible to do so in terms of character development and plots, but the enormous complexities involved in letting the user develop an entirely 3D environment are far too much to handle at this point, and ... RPG Maker makes use of only 2D. Don�t let that discourage you, however; there�s a limitless amount of pieces that can be strung together to from amazing and epic adventures that will fit on the size of a mere memory card, instead of four jam-packed CD-ROMs.
