  8. Rock Hudson
American actor Rock Hudson was born Roy Scherer, adopting the last name Fitzgerald when his mother remarried in the mid-'30s. A popular but academically unspectacular student at New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL, he decided at some point during his high school years to become an actor, although a wartime stint in the Navy put these plans on hold. Uninspiring postwar jobs as a moving man, postman, telephone company worker, and truck driver in his new home of California only fueled his desire to break into movies, which was accomplished after he had professional photos of himself taken and sent out to the various studios. A few dead-end interviews later, he took drama lessons; his teacher advised him to find a shorter name if he hoped to become a star, and, after rejecting Lance and Derek, he chose Rock ("Hudson" was inspired by the automobile of that name). Signed by Universal-International, Hudson was immediately loaned to Warner Bros. for his first film, Fighter Squadron (1948); despite director Raoul Walsh's predictions of stardom for the young actor, Hudson did the usual contract player bits, supporting roles, and villain parts when he returned to Universal.
  9. Jamie Cullum -- Jamie Cullum Trio
British pianist/vocalist Jamie Cullum mixes jazz with melodic pop and rock into a crossover style that calls to mind such artists as Harry Connick, Jr. and Norah Jones. In that vein, Cullum will just as often cover a swinging jazz standard as a modern rock song, and his original compositions deftly move from earnest ballads to songs of sardonic wit. Having played guitar and piano since age eight, Cullum developed an avid interest in jazz passed down from his older brother Ben. Inspired by such piano icons as Oscar Peterson and Dave Brubeck, Cullum spent some of his formative years living in Paris where he honed his abilities performing in jazz clubs. Cullum eventually earned a degree from Reading University, during which time he recorded his first album, Jamie Cullum Trio -- Heard It All Before, at age 19. The surprise success of that album eventually put him in contact with jazz bassist Geoff Gascoyne, who offered Cullum the opportunity to play on his album, Songs of the Summer.
  10. Adventureland
Adventureland is a great place to be. Go early to avoid the big crowds that gather there. Indiana Jones is one of the best rides in the park and located in Adventureland. The best time to go is early in the morning when the park first opens or late at night before closing or as always during a parade or Fantasmic! The Tiki Room is a good place to refresh when it is hot and provides an entertaining show. Bengal BBQ has great little BBQ sticks at a fairly good price.
