Rose_McGowan.jpg Actress Rose McGowan's reputation for playing the freaky female lead comes from the film The Doom Generation (1995), the TV series Charmed (2001-06) and her real-life engagement to rock star Marilyn Manson (1999-001). McGowan grew up in a pseudo-Christian commune in Italy until 1984, when she moved with her mother to the United States. After what she has described as a few rough-and-tumble years in the Pacific Northwest, she began finding work as an actress. With only a few screen credits, McGowan was given a lead role as a very naughty girl in the video store hit The Doom Generation (1995), then appeared in the box office smash Scream (1996, starring Neve Campbell). While appearing in a string of oddball features that included Southie (1998), Devil in the Flesh (1998) and Jawbreaker (1999), McGowan became even more famous as rocker Manson's fianceé (they split in 2001). She joined the cast of Charmed in 2001 (it's fourth season) and became a TV star, then garnered critical praise for her performance as entertainer Ann-Margret in the TV movie Elvis (2005, starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers).

Rose McGowan had never uttered a word of English until the age of 10. Born and raised as a child in Italy, McGowan grew up surrounded by a large family in Florence and was as far away from the world of acting as one could be. It wasn’t until her family moved to the United States, that she decided to make the move to Los Angeles to pursue acting. In 1997, she got her first big break in Pauly Shore’s comedy Encino Man and hasn’t stopped working since.

Rose McGowan was born in Florence, Italy in 1975. Her parents raised in Italy on a commune of the Children of God cult. Her parents moved back to the United States when Rose was ten. They didn't want anything to do with American culture... and Rose had never spoken English until then.
Exorcism of Emily Rose is a 2005 American horror film directed by Scott Derrickson. It is based on the real story of a young Catholic girl from Germany, Annelise Michel, who died in 1976 after attempts to cure her from an alleged state of demonic possession failed. The court ruled that the death of the girl was caused by the neglect of the priest watching over her. The film deals with the courtroom trial and the defense of the priest by a lawyer.
Obviously, quite a few folks think Rose is deserving in this case. Her statements were clearly off-base, but it’s just rare to see a non-serial offender being attacked on a personal level ’round these parts. Kinda like one of those message vs. messenger kind of things.
