Rose McGowan will star as Susan Cabot. She was born in Boston and raised in a series of eight foster homes. She attended high school in Manhattan, where she took an interest in dramatics and joined the school dramatic club. Later, while trying to decide between a career in music or art, Susan illustrated children's books during the day and sang at Manhattan's Village Barn at night. It was at this same time that she made her film debut as an extra in Fox's Kiss of Death (1947) and worked in New York-based television. Cabot soon found herself signed to an exclusive contract with Universal, but later asked to be released from the pact when the sameness of her roles in various westerns and Arabian Nights films became more than she could bear.
At Ronald Reagan High School, the power elite clique consists of Courtney Shane (Rose McGowan), Julie Freeman (Rebecca Gayheart), Marcie Fox (Julie Benz), and Liz Purr (Charlotte Roldan). The four girls control the school through a combination of beauty, sex, and intimidation. Of the four, only Liz is actually liked by the less fortunate members of the student body, and Liz is ... the only one who can keep Courtney, the vicious group leader, in check. Unfortunately for Liz, she's also the only thing keeping Courtney from becoming prom queen. To achieve her goal, Courtney convinces Marcie and Julie to kidnap Liz on her 17th birthday and force her to eat until she's too fat to win. The three sneak into Liz's house, tie her up, stick a jawbreaker in her mouth, and gag her to keep her quiet before they throw her into the trunk of a car.

Rose McGowan with her parents in Italy in the Spring of 1974 (see full image) At age 15, Rose left to live on her own, supporting herself with several odd jobs, often having to lie about her age. Living on her own meant being forced to live on the streets for a short time, but despite this she later attended art and beauty school before heading to Los Angeles where she had a chance encounter with independent film director Gregg Araki, who cast her as the female lead in his 1995 Sundance Film Festival entry The Doom Generation, though her only prior acting experience was a minor role in 1992's Encino Man. Her performance in Araki's dark road movie earned her a nomination for Best Newcomer at the 1996 Independent Spirit Awards. Also in 1996, she appeared in Wes Craven's hit thriller, Scream, a role that brought her into significant public attention.

If you read the Film Ick article, you would notice that the writer sounded like angry fan boy of Rose McGowan trying to put her name out there because Rachel Weisz was in talks to take the role. You would notice ... that the article is really about Rachel Weisz taking the role, not Rose McGowan. So in reality, Rose is not up for the role.
