Rory Sabbatini: No Comments

College golf separated Gary and Rory once and for all on the course, and it's still a divisive issue. "Rory was lucky that my folks were able to get him over there and keep him there," says Gary, 37, who now works in real estate. "That first year [at Arizona] he didn't have a scholarship. They still had to send him $1,000 a month."

Why should you care about Sabbatini turning his sister into a rolling blur on the fairway, you ask? Because Sabbatini's the key to whether these newfangled playoffs with a point system that seems designed to confuse (why 5,400 points for second again?) work or not. If more sports fans decide they want to learn about Sabbatini - his sister dumping, his love of dogs that would make putting the 5-foot-9 Sabbatini in the same room with Michael Vick spare us more months of talk, his Bode Miller-worthy tricked out RV - the FedEx Cup will have been a rousing success.

According to ESPN.com, "A locker-room attendant, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release information, said Sabbatini cleaned out his locker Saturday afternoon and gave away sweaters and shoes. He told them he was headed to Maui, where he spends his Christmas vacation."

[T]hat’s not what Rory is saying. Sabbatini cited “personal reasons†for the withdrawal. Which is completely true, as long as you consider “playing at a Charles Barkley level†a personal reason.

Woods went on to beat Sabbatini at the Wachovia and again at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Whether Sabbatini makes these comments out of frustration, or simply to seek a reaction, his antics are increasingly non-professional considering his inability to back up his brash statements.
