Ron Hornaday was just 12 laps away from his 11th top-five finish of the year when the right front tire exploded on his No. 33 Camping World Silverado. Ron Hornaday returns in 2007 to drive the No. 33 AES HR Solutions Chevrolet in the NASCAR Truck Series for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI). In 2006, veteran driver, Ron Hornaday drove the No. 33 to a seventh-place finish in the championship point standings, and extended his record of most wins for a driver in the Truck Series to 29 victories. Growing up in southern California, Ron Hornaday spent his childhood traveling the local short tracks, watching his father (Ron, Sr.) win hundreds of races and a NASCAR Winston West championship. He knew then he wanted to race himself. Under the watchful eye of his father, Hornaday began his career racing motorcycles and go-karts before moving up to stock cars in his late teens.

Ron Hornaday’s No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado was fast from the moment it unloaded at the Kansas Speedway. He started from the eighth position, but a little bit of bad luck sent Hornaday a lap down early in the event. Hornaday eventually worked his way back on the lead lap and maneuvered through the field to his second sixth-place finish in a row.

Ronald Hornaday II (born in Palmdale, California on June 20, 1958) is a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver. He is the father of former NASCAR driver Ronnie Hornaday, and the son of Ron Hornaday, Sr., a two time Winston West Champion. Adding on to the family legacy, Ron is a three time champion in the Truck Series, his most recent coming in 2007.

Hornaday, a Palmdale, California native, will make a return visit to his home state for this weekend’s running of the San Bernardino County 200 at California Speedway. Chassis No. 016 will return to the track at California Speedway for its 2008 debut.
