1. Lillian Gish -- Romantic Night
   When Lillian Gish died in 1993, she had lived for almost a full century. The rerelease of The Night of the Hunter in the fall of 2001 brought renewed critical attention, as have continued biographical and critical studies, such as the aforementioned book by Charles Affron. Many commentators seemed to be affronted by the fact that Lillian Gish was so attendant to her image, to her place in history, to her legacy, as if recent movie stars don't have armies of public relations flacks to facilitate their public personae. Lillian Gish didn't have publicists and public relations firms: she had herself, aided by her manager, James Frasher. Her stardom wasn't just a matter of publicity, it was a matter of artistry. She cared about how she looked, how she was perceived, how she was regarded, but she ... cared about her legacy.
2. Comedy Film
   With the release of The 40-Year-Old Virgin in 2005, a new genre of comedy film was born which could loosely be called the Judd Apatow style (named for its producer, Judd Apatow). This style of comedy is usually R-rated, containing humor that is typically classified as "gross-out humor," but usually with a soft, romantic ending. Films containing these attributes have usually achieved critical and commercial success, and are usually more respected than more juvenile films like American Pie or Road Trip. Other examples of this genre are Knocked Up, Superbad, and Wedding Crashers (in which Apatow had no involvement).
3. Claudette Colbert -- Comedies
   Colbert was reluctant to appear as the "runaway heiress", Ellie Andrews, in the Frank Capra romantic comedy, It Happened One Night (1934), opposite Clark Gable and released by Columbia Pictures. Behind schedule after several actresses had refused the role, the studio accepted Colbert's demand that she be paid $50,000 and that filming was to be completed within four weeks to allow her to take a planned vacation. she was a tartar, but a cute one."[14]
4. Comedy Film -- Marcus King
   In the United Kingdom, film adaptations of stage farces were popular in the early 1930s, while the music hall tradition strongly influenced film comedy into the 1940s with Will Hay and George Formby among the top comedy stars of the time. In England in the late 1940s, Ealing Studios achieved popular success as well as critical acclaim with a series of films known collectively as the "Ealing comedies", from 1946 to 1956. They usually included a degree of social comment, and featured ensemble casts which often included Alec Guinness or Stanley Holloway. Among the most famous examples were Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), The Lavender Hill Mob (1951) and The Ladykillers (1955).
