Abramovich could try to coax away Arsene Wenger - he'd have to cover Wenger's newly signed contract, but he can afford it - or he could just buy Arsenal.

Mourinho and Abramovich are said to have exchanged strong words after Saturday’s goalless draw against Blackburn Rovers. Abramovich spent time searching for a replacement as their relationship soured at the end of last season, making a firm offer to Jürgen Klinsmann, but he reluctantly decided to give Mourinho one more season.

The two men appeared to have patched up last season’s very public disagreement over the team’s new purchases, notably Andriy Shevchenko, who was apparently the choice of Abramovich, not Mourinho.
