Rolling Thunder started eight years ago, in May of 1988. It started with a group of Vietnam Vet Bikers and other Vietnam Vets. It starts at the Pentagon, and ends at the Vietnam Memorial. Since it's first run, it has grown. As of Rolling Thunder 1995, there were approximately 150,000 bikers that participated in the run, as well as the thousands of spectators who came to show their support and honor the Vets. Rolling Thunder consists of Bikers who were in Vietnam, other bikers, and non bikers who just care about the issue, and want something done about the POWs and MIAs.

When Rolling Thunder failed to weaken the enemy’s will after the first several weeks, the purpose of the campaign began to change. By the end of 1965, the Johnson administration still used air power as an attempt to change North Vietnamese policy, but bombing tended to be directed against the flow of men and supplies from the North... damaging the enemy militarily while warning him of the danger of greater destruction if he maintained the present aggressive course.

Rolling Thunder was incorporated as a class 501 C-4 non-profit organization and today has more than 7,500 members throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. The group is actively involved year-round in promoting legislation to increase veteran benefits and resolve the POW/MIA issue from all wars. They ... provide financial support, food, clothing and other essentials to veterans, veterans' families, veterans groups, and women's' crisis centers.

Junior membership in Rolling Thunder® Inc. is open to anyone under age 18 with an interest in educating the public regarding the POW-MIA (Prisoner of War-Missing In Action) issue regardless of race, color, creed or sex. All junior members must be sponored by an adult chapter member. Junior members will receive a Rolling Thunder® Inc. Junior Member patch (from their Chapter) when they become a full junior member at the end of a 120-day trial period.

Rolling Thunder gave it their all... the stifling heat and humidity took its toll on the already exhausted RT players. RT had played two challenging, fast-paced games that day. The championship was the third game of the day for RT team. The well rested Kodiaks had the scheduling advantage with the championship game being their first and only game of the day.
