Roger Moore is an outstanding teacher and leader in teaching and learning development both at St. Thomas University and in the Atlantic Region. While teaching in the smallest department at one of Canada's smallest universities, Roger brings relentless energy and creativity and works continuously to introduce new offerings to strengthen the Spanish curriculum, including live theatre, novel on-line applications, and an innovative conversation course that helps students become more fluent in Spanish while bridging the gap between existing courses in grammar and in composition. He loves innovation, ideas, students, and he loves to teach. He maintains an open door philosophy and encourages students to visit his office when they need help. His overall student ratings scores are substantially above the university average every year and he has won two major teaching awards. In 1996, he was the first-ever winner of the St. Thomas University Excellence in Teaching Award, the University's only teaching prize.

He made his film debut with a tiny role as a soldier in two 1945 films, Caesar and Cleopatra with Claude Rains and Vivien Leigh and Perfect Strangers with Robert Donat and Deborah Kerr. But Moore was mostly seen as a TV actor, after starring as Ivanhoe in a 1958-59 series, and The Alaskans the following season. When James Garner refused to play Bret on Maverick in 1961, Moore was brought in to star as his cousin Beauregarde. Moore and Tony Curtis were The Persuaders in the early 1970s.

Roger Moore Suave, blue-eyed and British, Roger Moore moved to the United States in 1953 and made his first mark in the TV western Maverick (replacing James Garner in 1959). Even more successful was his smooth portrayal of Simon Templar in the 1960s series The Saint. Gentlemanly and roguish, Moore took over from Sean Connery as James Bond in 1972 and eventually starred in seven Bond movies. In the 1990s Moore made fewer films, keeping busy with charity work on behalf of UNICEF; he succeeded Audrey Hepburn as the organization's Special Representative for the Film Arts.
