built 233 days ago
Roger Moore settled into by 1948, appearing in small roles on British television, radio and repertory theatre. In 1953 Moore went to Hollywood where he secured an MGM contract, appearing in minor roles in four features over the next two years. He moved to Warner Brothers and appeared in several features including The Sins of Rachel Cade. In 1958 Moore returned to England for a year to star in the television series, Ivanhoe, a co-production between Screen Gems of America and Sydney Box. The series was part of a historical cycle in British television in the second half of the 1950s and the Ivanhoe series was an admirable effort in the genre. The series was loosely based on the chivalric exploits of Ivanhoe during the time of Prince John with the hero drawn from the novel by Sir Walter Scott.

Today, more than half of all new infections strike people under the age of 25. Success in responding depends upon massively stepped up and immediate support from governments and the international community. This global ad campaign will play an important part in helping UNICEF raise worldwide awareness of this massive, growing and long-term crisis."

In 1953 Roger Moore left the UK and went to the United States, where he got a movie contract with MGM, and made several films playing supporting roles. After his contract with MGM had finished Roger then moved to Warner Brothers where he again made several films including The Sins of Rachel Cade. Late in 1956 Roger signed with Columbia Pictures, and in early 1957 he started shooting the television series Ivanhoe - a Screen Gems / Sydney Box co-production (Screen Gems was the television arm of Columbia). Ivanhoe is set in 12th century England, and is based on the novel by Sir Walter Scott. Roger plays the lead as Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe. The interior scenes for Ivanhoe were shot at Elstree Studios in England, but because of the inclement winter weather in the UK the exterior scenes were shot at the Columbia Ranch in California.
