Rogaine: Rogaine Solution
built 643 days ago
Minoxidil (Rogaine®) is applied topically to the scalp in 2% or 5% solution. Minoxidil is available over-the-counter in 2% solution, but is best and most effectively used in a treatment program planned and supervised by a physician hair restoration specialist. Rogaine tends to be more effective in women than in men.

In clinical studies involving 6,000 men and women, adverse reactions to Rogaine were minimal. The most common side effect -- itching and irritation of the scalp -- occurred in only 7% of people tested. That's compared with 5% of those who used the placebo (a similar solution without the active ingredient in Rogaine).

Rogaine users with severe, refractory high blood pressure experienced some problems. One such problem was “hypertrichosis,” hair growth on the face or other bodily areas. This side effect appears in about 3-5 % of women who use the 2% solution, and higher among women using the 5% solution.
