Covering 265,828 acres, the park's elevation reaches up to 14,259 feet at the football field size summit of Long's Peak. Estes Park and Grand Lake are located on opposite sides of the park. A pass to the park is $15 per vehicle and is valid for 7 days.

Rocky Mountain National Park is located in north central Colorado. Estes Park lies on the northeastern boundary and Lake Granby lies on the southwestern park boundary. The Continental Divide divides the park diagonally. The Colorado River headwaters lie on the western side of the park.
