Rockwell Automation is the primary sponsor of #20 Joe Gibbs Racing Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series driven by Denny Hamlin and Aric Almirola. In 2006, Rockwell Automation made two trips to victory lane in NASCAR's Busch Series at the inaugural race in Mexico City and at the spring race in Darlington. In 2007, Rockwell Automation again won the spring race in Darlington, the AT&T 250 at the Milwaukee Mile, and the Carfax 250 at the Michigan International Speedway in August of 2007. The Milwaukee win was not without some controversey as Almirola qualified the car and started the race, but was forced to get out of the car (while leading) by Joe Gibbs Racing , so Nextel Cup superstar Denny Hamlin could drive to the victory. This happened because Denny Hamlin, originally scheduled to drive the entire race, arrived late because his helicopter had no place to land. While the Joe Gibbs team was extremely happy with Almirola's driving, it is believed that they felt they owed it to Rockwell to put Hamlin in the car, since the race was at Rockwell's "home track." - Rockwell Collins
Since its 1933 founding as Collins Radio, Rockwell Collins and its products have been recognized for distinctive quality and state-of-the-art technology. Founder Arthur Collins initially designed and produced short-wave radio equipment that captured the world’s attention when Collins supplied the communications equipment used to establish a link with the South Pole expedition of Rear Admiral Richard Byrd in 1933. During the next three decades, acquisitions and alliances enabled Rockwell Collins to branch out into all phases of communications while broadening its technology thrust into numerous other disciplines. Collins Radio played a significant role in America’s space program, providing communications equipment for astronauts to communicate with earth stations and equipment to track and communicate with spacecraft. Collins communication equipment was used for the Apollo, Gemini, and Mercury programs, providing voice communication for every American astronaut traveling through space. In 1973, the U.S. Skylab Program used Collins equipment for the astronauts to communicate to earth. - Rockwell Collins -- Business
The Rockwell Collins new purchasing model challenges customary thinking on response times to the business. "When you purchase servers, you want them to be fully utilized because you've already paid for them," says Malamut. "But when you pay for what you use, you don't want to drive response times below what's ade-quate to support the business, because that would mean paying for more than you need. It's a paradigm shift in the way IT managers think about utilization." - Rockwell Automation -- Milwaukee Wisconsin
