Rockwell Collins: Business
built 277 days ago
The Rockwell Collins new purchasing model challenges customary thinking on response times to the business. "When you purchase servers, you want them to be fully utilized because you've already paid for them," says Malamut. "But when you pay for what you use, you don't want to drive response times below what's ade-quate to support the business, because that would mean paying for more than you need. It's a paradigm shift in the way IT managers think about utilization."
Rockwell Collins focuses on leveraging its core strengths and expanding them through strategic acquisitions. Since 1997, Rockwell Collins has acquired companies that complement and support its government and commercial businesses. These include:
Rockwell Collins has completed its acquisition of Salt Lake City, Utah-based Evans & Sutherland's visual simulation business. The $71.5M cash transaction includes simulation facilities in Salt Lake City, Orlando, and the United Kingdom. Rockwell said that approximately 200 former Evans & Sutherland employees have joined Rockwell Collins as part of the transaction. Evans & Sutherland developed hardware and software used by the military and commercial aerospace industry for simulation, training, and engineering. E&S has refocused on the planetarium and laser projector business.
