Robin Tunney was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 19, 1972 and raised on the South Side of Chicago. During her freshman year of high school, she attended St. Ignatius College Prep, a co-educational Catholic prep school in Chicago. She then went on to study acting at the Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts. At the age of 18, Tunney moved to Los Angeles, California and obtained several recurring TV roles on Class of '96, Law & Order, Dream On, and Life Goes On. In 1997, Tunney married producer/director Bob Gosse. They were separated in 2002.
