The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama is the brainchild of Dr. David Bronner, CEO of the Retirement Systems of Alabama. In the late 1980’s Bronner had a couple of pressing concerns. One, how to make the best use of the state’s pension fund assets. Two, how to do something to help the State of Alabama. His feeling was that the two went hand-in-hand - anything that would make the state stronger would, in turn, help to make RSA stronger.

Alabama's magnificent Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail consists of twenty one courses in all. Some sites have two 18-hole championship courses and one 18-hole Short course, while other sites offer three 9-hole championship courses and one 9-hole Short course and Capitol Hill is offering three 18-hole championship courses and a conference center. As noted below, each of the championship courses offers a world-class golfing experience, but it's important to realize that the Short course at each site is like none other you've ever played. Part of Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Capitol Hill offers 3 completely different 18-hole layouts along the backwaters of the Alabama River. Open year round (except Christmas Day), 7:00 am until dark. Greens fees range from $29.00 to $49.00. Located 8 miles north on Montgomery just off Interstate 65 in Prattville (exit 179).

The trail started with 378 holes at eight sites throughout the state, but has grown to 432 holes at ten sites.
