Sandler, Judd Apatow and Robert Smigel have written the script, which was recently picked up by Columbia Pictures. Smigel is currently doing a rewrite on the property, and the studio plans to have the project in front of the cameras by this summer.

Smigel, along with Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow, wrote the script for the film You Don't Mess with the Zohan. The project is currently filming and will be released sometime in 2008. As with other Sandler projects, Smigel may have a role in the film.

The segment was an animator's idea, but Smigel basically wrote the script himself. He mixed "real ugly rumors" (such as the suggestion Walt Disney ratted on union-minded animators) with fanciful ones (a look at a particularly offensive version of "Song of the South"). "Song of the South," a 1946 film, has been little seen in recent years because of racially offensive material.

"I Keed" ... refers to the 2002 MTV Music Awards, when Eminem's bodyguards knocked Mr. Smigel's script out of his hand as Triumph tried to get the rapper to have a conversation. Mr. Smigel said Eminem had gotten a "raw deal" from the press, that the show's producers hadn't given the rapper a heads-up that the bit was coming.
